July's In-House Moves: Rugby Union, AA and General Electric All Change Ranks
In-house teams at WorldRemit, GE and others saw changeover in July.

Hannah Ward, formerly executive counsel of international capital markets at GE Capital (General Electric), has joined Jones Day's London office. She joins as counsel in the firm's financial markets practice, a statement said. Jones Day also hired London Ashurst finance partner Abradat Kamalpou earlier in July, where he'll initially be based in London ahead of a later move to the firm's San Francisco base. Welsh Rugby Union group general counsel, Rhodri Lewis, has had his role's remit expanded following a business reshuffle. Lewis' new role will be commercial and legal director, where he'll continue his general counsel position but also have additional responsibilities for the group's commercial activity, a statement said. Motorway emergency service AA's chief legal officer has left for the same role at global communications network OneWeb, a statement confirmed. Prior to her CLO role at AA, Nadia Hoosen was its general counsel. She was also group legal director at TalkTalk Telecom Group for over eight years, the statement added. Lara Oyesanya has been hired as WorldRemit's general counsel, according to a company spokesperson. This follows the departure of Martin Cook who in February 2021 joined Burges Salmon as its head of fintech. Oyesanya leaves alternative banking competitor Contis, where she joined in May 2020 as its first general counsel. The general counsel at location app what3words is moving to healthtech start up Thriva. Rachael Carolan is set to join the company as its chief legal officer from September. She joined what3words as its first lawyer in 2018. Sinead Murray has been hired as U.K. energy regulator Ofgem's general counsel, an Ofgem statement said. She joins from the U.K. government's Department for Business Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) where she has been legal director, leading on energy and science, the statement added.

The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer, is 3:24-cv-01423, Steins v. Sunrun, Inc. et al.
