U.K. law firm Mishcon de Reya has launched a legal action against the U.K. government which, according to the firm, continues to ignore the pleas of Afghan judges, many of whom are women, still stranded in Afghanistan in the clutch of the Taliban.

The action is on behalf of 35 judges who had their visa applications rejected by the U.K. Many of these judges, who fear for their lives, had in the course of their work handed down verdicts against thousands of prisoners, including “terrorists and Al-Qaeda operatives,” which they allege makes them special targets of Taliban retribution.
