The in-house moves of the month also included a senior hire for Imperial College London and a Kirkland partner departure.

General Counsel and In House CounselHSBC has hired Jon Doyle as its global legal chief operating officer, a spokesperson has confirmed. According to LinkedIn, Doyle was chief of staff for legal at Barclays for the past 13 years. He will report to Bob Hoyt who joined HSBC as its chief legal officer in October 2020, also from Barclays. Celine Barroche has been appointed as general counsel for G4S, following its takeover by U.S. security group Allied Universal in December 2020, a spokesperson said. According to LinkedIn, she has been with the company since 2009 and was most recently company secretary and deputy general counsel. Sheryl Jermyn has joined Utility Warehouse as general counsel, according to a statement. She was previously group legal director for Eden Springs and vice president in the M&A legal team at Barclays, the statement added. Shazia Imtiaz has been hired as general counsel at The Association of Professional Staffing Companies, a spokesperson confirmed. She replaces Tania Bowers in the role, who has moved to the role of global public policy director. Imperial College London has hired Grainne Brankin as its next general counsel, replacing Malcolm Edwards in the role, a statement confirmed. Brankin was most recently general counsel at the British Standards Institution and takes up the role at Imperial from January 2022. Law firm Harold Benjamin has hired Investec's in-house banking head to lead the firm's new banking and finance department. According to a statement, John O'Donovan returns to private practice as partner and head of the new department after nine years at Investec. Deutsche Bank has appointed Simon Man as its general counsel for UK & Ireland, a spokesperson said. He was formerly deputy general counsel for UK & Ireland for over two years, according to LinkedIn, and held various other roles prior to this. In 2020, Karen Kuder was appointed as Deutsche Bank's general counsel and global legal head. Tana Wilner has joined alternative investment firm Pretium as its vice president of legal and compliance, a spokesperson confirmed. She leaves Kirkland & Ellis after over six years, with just over a year spent as partner, according to LinkedIn.

The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024.
