Career DevelopmentMayer Brown has appointed Dominic Griffiths as the next London office managing partner, succeeding incumbent Sally Davies who has held the role since July 2017. Griffiths joined Mayer Brown in 2005 as partner and has been co-leader of the firm's global banking and finance practice since 2014, with his new position taking effect 1 January 2022. Davies will continue to focus on her role as a member of the firms global management committee. U.K. information commissioner Elizabeth Denham has joined Baker McKenzie as her term as ICO came to an end in November 2021. She will join as consultant to its global data & technology team and will be based in the law firm's London office. On International Day of Persons with Disabilities this month, The International Chamber of Commerce announced a disability task force. King & Spalding's senior associate Simon Maynard has been elected co-chair, who Law.com International spoke to last year about his cancer battle and representation of disabled lawyers. The task force will study how the ICC can help those in the international arbitration community who, because of disabilities, need accommodations to the way they work. In their third duo partner appointment of recent months, Taylor Wessing added two new hires to their London office. Data protection and privacy lawyer Victoria Hordern has joined from Bates Wells, having previously spent time in Silicon Valley, whilst former Linklaters counsel Anna Taylor, who specialises in advising trustees and employers on all legal issues concerning pension arrangements, will also join as a new partner. Mishcon de Reya has hired Alison Geary as a new white collar crime and investigations partner to join its London office. Geary moves from U.S. law firm WilmerHale where she was counsel, a role she has held for the last five years according to her LinkedIn. Geary will advise corporations and individuals on fraud, bribery, corruption and money laundering matters both in the U.K. and overseas. Irish law firm William Fry has hired Proskauer corporate partner Liam Arthur. He will join its corporate and M&A department in January 2022. Arthur has worked in Proskauer's London office for the last six years, advising private equity houses, sovereign wealth funds, family offices and corporations. Prior to Proskauer, he worked with Debevoise & Plimpton and SJ Berwin in London. Katten Muchin Rosenman has hired Chris Harrison to it's London capital markets group. According to a firm announcement, he joins from Vedder Price and prior to this was partner at Latham & Watkins, Weil Gotshal and Manges, and Morgan Lewis.

Driscoll from Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr have stepped in to represent Symbotic Inc., an A.I.-enabled technology platform that focuses on increasing supply chain efficiency, and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. The suit was filed Sept. 7 in Wisconsin Western District Court by Levine Eisberner LLC and Siri & Glimstad on behalf of a project manager who claims that he was wrongfully terminated after applying for a religious exemption to the defendant's COVID-19 vaccine mandate. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024.
