An American lawyer and former anti-bribery compliance director at the Bank of America Merrill Lynch is going back to jail in Hong Kong to serve the remainder of his sentence for assaulting a plainclothes police officer during the pro-democracy protests in 2019.

Last year, a magistrate ruled against Samuel Bickett, accused of punching Senior Constable Yu Shu-sang and kneeling on his chest in a bid to snatch his baton. The officer had earlier used his baton to intercept a man who allegedly jumped a turnstile at the Causeway Bay underground train station.
