Fourteen U.S. and U.K.-led law firms have volunteered to assist one of the most ambitious pro bono projects ever launched, to help up to 150,000 Afghans, of whom less than 5% have received formal legal assistance to date, stranded under Taliban rule after the Western withdrawal from Kabul last year.

The Afghan Pro Bono Initiative will see non-governmental organisations Refugee Legal Support (RLS) and Safe Passage International work with the firms to provide assistance to desperate Afghan refugees, many seeking to build new lives in the U.K. with their families.
