King & Spalding has hired London based energy partner Nina Howell to its corporate, finance and investments practice. It is a return to the firm for Howell, who previously left to join Bracewell rejoins the firm after having left to move to Bracewell in 2019. She has particular expertise advising on the development of LNG import and export projects to LNG transportation, sales and trading as well as joint ventures and M&A. Clifford Chance poached TMT partner Zayed Al Jamil from Norton Rose Fulbright where he spent the last five years, one of which as partner. He will join the firm's London tech group from 1 May 2022. Al Jamil has experience advising on complex commercial and large-scale outsourcing technology projects, and the tech-related aspects of corporate transactions. He has also spent time working in-house as head of legal and public affairs for MeteoGroup and as legal counsel for a well-known financial index provider. CMS has hired the barrister Kitty St Aubyn, formerly of 3 Raymond Buildings, as a senior associate in its corporate crime practice in London. St Aubyn has particular expertise in financial crime, fraud, civil recovery and the proceeds of crime, and will work alongside Eoin O'Shea, CMS's white collar head, and Omar Qureshi, CMS's head of corporate crime. Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe has added a partner to its London office from U.S.-headquartered Jenner & Block. Kelly Hagedorn was at her former firm for over six years, according to her LinkedIn. She joins the firm's cyber, privacy & data innovation practice, with particular experience in white collar investigations and international disputes involving major fraud allegations. She was previously seconded to the U.K. Serious Fraud Office. Greenberg Traurig has expanded its offering in Amsterdam with the hire of Thijs Elseman­ as a shareholder to its finance & restructuring practice. He joins from leading independent Dutch firm De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek, where he has spent the last 12 years. Elseman focuses on advising companies, investment banks and private equity investors on complex, distressed financing transactions and cross-border restructurings. Hill Dickinson has appointed a head of office to each of the firm's four main U.K. offices. In London, head of healthcare Kiran Bhogal will lead the firm's London offices, including St James's, assisted by yachts partner Panos Pourgourides and shipping partner Siiri Duddington. In Liverpool partner Matt Noon will head the office alongside two deputies, in Manchester partner Barry Gibb will be head of office, and partner Esther Venning will lead in Leeds. Kennedys has hired its third partner from Clyde & Co as it continues its expansion in Scotland. Lesley Allan was a litigation partner in Clyde & Co's Glasgow office for over six years, according to her Linkedin. She specialises in catastrophic and large loss claims, fatal accident inquiries as well as data protection and freedom of information issues. Simmons & Simmons has hired its first global head of ESG from investment bank Morgan Stanley. Sonali Siriwardena has joined after over a decade at the bank, a firm statement said, where she was most recently head of sustainability regulation and policy for Morgan Stanley Investment Management. gunnercooke has appointed Miklos Orban as chief technology officer, to head up the firm's new legal technology arm in Europe. Based in Hungary, he was formerly a partner for over 10 years at legal consultancy boutique OPL Attorneys. Orban will be responsible for improving the firm's infrastructure and systems to enhance client service delivery, as well as heading up training and development in legal tech. The Competition and Markets Authority has appointed Jessica Radke to a new role of senior litigation director. Radke has been part of the CMA litigation team for five years. She will manage a team of around 40 legal professionals and head up the CMA's litigation work. Prior to the CMA, Radke spent eight years in the public law and employment litigation team for the Government Legal Department. Hogan Lovells has hired Paul Akehurst as the firm's next head of sustainability from JLL, where he has spent the last five years, according to his LinkedIn. Based in the firm's London office, Akehurst has significant experience in building design, energy and carbon management and environmental assessments. His role at JLL was as energy and sustainability operations lead EMEA. FisherBroyles added the dual-qualified securities lawyer Paul-Michael Rebus to its corporate department in London. Rebus joined from Keystone, where he was a partner – although he has previously been a partner at a number of other firms, including Addleshaw Goddard, Eversheds, McDermott Will & Emery, and Baker McKenzie. Chris White has joined Stephenson Harwood to lead the firm's nuclear practice. White is currently chair of the World Nuclear Association's Law Group, and co-chair of the UK Nuclear Industry Association's Legal & Financial Affairs Working Group. In a statement from the firm, White is also described as having "particularly strong links to government on low carbon economy, carbon pricing, and construction of critical energy infrastructure in support of net-zero." The newly-merged Clyde & Co added Rob Crossingham as a partner in its global insurance practice in April. Crossingham joins from Weightmans, where he was a partner for over 13 years. During his career he has acted for solicitors, accountants, architects, surveyors, and financial services professionals and pension trustees, as well as those in the tech, media and emerging professions. Ashurst sees a partner return with Patricia Allen to its London tax team. She was previously a partner at the firm for a decade until 2010, and then left to co-found a boutique tax advisory practice as well as work as a tax consultant for Burges Salmon since 2021. Allen's expertise lies in corporate tax, specifically investment fund structures and private equity transactions. DLA Piper added the partner Emma Dowden-Teale to head up its U.K.-wide contentious public law team. She joins from Bates Wells, after nearly six years with the firm, including five as a partner. Dowden-Teale brings experience of advising at the intersection between the public and private sector, and within her broader practice has advised on equality, human rights, procurement and public inquiries. Shoosmiths boosted its dispute resolution and litigation practice with the appointment of Andrew Bowden-Brown as a partner in London. Previously head of banking & finance at Francis Wilks & Jones, he brings over 20 years of experience in the asset-based lending, alternative finance and banking and finance industry. The dispute resolution and litigation practice at Shoosmiths works across all three U.K. jurisdictions. DLA Piper has announced the appointment of Declan Lavelle as a partner in the firm's Tax practice in Ireland. He will be joining the firm in July from William Fry where he has been a partner since 2019, focusing on Corporate and International Tax matters.
