Australian fund manager Pendal Group has accepted a sweetened cash-and-stock takeover offer from larger rival Perpetual Ltd.

Herbert Smith Freehills is advising fund manager Perpetual on its planned $1.6 billion acquisition of smaller rival Pendal Group, which is represented by King & Wood Mallesons.
Perpetual announced this week that it will acquire 100% of Pendal after the two agreed to a deal in which Perpetual sweetened its cash-and-stock takeover from the offer first proposed in April.
