This is the first time the tech giant has been hit with a fine by Russia, which last year adopted a new social media law that requires online platforms to proactively identify and remove prohibited content.

A Moscow district court has slapped Amazon with a 4 million ruble fine (€65,000) for failing to removed banned content in two separate cases—the first such penalty by Russia for the U.S. tech giant.
According to the news agency Interfax, the Magistrates Court of Moscow's Tagansky District imposed the fine because Amazon failed to delete content related to suicide methods and drug use. Such content is banned in Russia.
