A former trainee at Eversheds Sutherland London office has been barred from the profession by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) after being convicted of four counts of sexual assault.

Thomas Hagyard was found guilty of two counts of assault by penetration and two counts of sexual assault on October 14 2021, and sentenced to eight years in prison. He was employed as a trainee solicitor at Eversheds at the time of the assaults, which took place on two women in October 2017, at a house party held by another Eversheds trainee, according to the SRA filing.

Eversheds suspended Hagyard in October 2017 "when it became aware of the allegations", according to the SRA judgment, and subsequently terminated his training contract in June 2018.
