A former leader of the largest advocacy organization for Indigenous Canadians is joining major law firm Fasken Martineau DuMoulin as a special adviser who will help bridge the gap between First Nations and the business community.

Perry Bellegarde, who was the national chief of the Assembly of First Nations for two terms ending in July 2021, will be advising Fasken members and clients on Indigenous matters and culture. The firm said during his tenure as national chief, Bellegarde led the AFN through “tremendous transformation and a marked increase in public awareness of First Nations concerns and priorities.”
