Japan has been a major source of investment for Indonesia, with 10 Japanese companies, including Toyota Motor and Mitsubishi Motor, having pledged to invest a total of $5.2 billion in the Southeast Asian country over the next few years. The Indonesian government has also recently sought to boost foreign investment.

Big Four Japanese firm Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu has officially launched a Jakarta office in Indonesia—its fifth outfit in Southeast Asia—through a strategic alliance with Indonesian law firm IM & Partners.
IM & Partners was founded by Nagashima Ohno lawyer Ichsan Montang. Qualified in Indonesia, he joined the Tokyo-based firm in Singapore as a foreign attorney in 2017 from the Indonesian firm Assegaf Hamzah & Partners.
