Torrente is the second corporate and M&A partner to leave Allen & Overy's European operation recently. His departure comes just one month after Allen & Overy and U.S.-based Shearman & Sterling announced a proposed trans-Atlantic merger.

Global law firm Baker McKenzie is bringing on an Allen & Overy partner to head up its M&A and capital markets practice in Madrid.
Fernando Torrente will begin working for Baker McKenzie on July 1, taking the reins from partner Luis Casals, who will remain an "active and significant member of the team," a spokesperson for Baker McKenzie told Law.com International.
