The approach and even the personality of a general counsel can be pivotal in whether a company can resolve a regulatory issue, Australia's finance industry regulator told delegates at the the 9th Annual General Counsel Summit in Sydney on Monday, August 7, 2023.
In a keynote address, Australian Securities & Investments Commission (ASIC) deputy chair Sarah Court said that from time to time she tries to engage directly with a company through its general counsel rather than via ASIC's external lawyers.

The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays.
