Law firms in Australia said they remain committed to reconciliation with the country's First Nations peoples, despite Australians overwhelmingly rejecting a referendum that would have granted them constitutional recognition and greater political rights.
In a vote on Saturday, the nation rejected the proposal to recognize Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders in the Constitution and create an Indigenous body to advise the Parliament on policies and projects relating to Indigenous peoples.
