Paula Hodges joined Herbert Smith Freehills in 1987 as an articled clerk and later became an associate in its disputes division. She spent the entirety of her 37-year career at the firm, where she went on to take silk in 2014 and lead its global arbitration group, first as co-head and later as the sole head, for 16 years.

Under her leadership, the global arbitration team doubled in size, with 50 partners across 19 offices specialising in the practice area. Today, HSF’s arbitration practice is considered among the best in the country.
