The booming U.S. legal market for investing in sports clubs and other assets, exemplified by OL Groupe’s sale of its 97% stake in Seattle Reign FC for $58 million, has made its way to the U.K. and is now emerging in France ahead of the Paris Olympics.

Buyers In the high-profile transaction, which received final approval in June, included investment firm Carlyle, advised by Latham & Watkins. While the sale was mainly a U.S. deal advised on by U.S.-based lawyers, Proskauer Rose notably assisted OL Groupe.
