New York isn’t just another city for arbitration—it’s the premier hub in the U.S with the numbers to prove it. According to the 2023 Dispute Resolution Statistics from the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), New York is the sixth most popular arbitration seat globally and the top choice in the U.S.—a position it has held for the past five years.

The International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR), the international arm of the American Arbitration Association, which is headquartered in New York, reported a rise in cases in 2023 compared to 2022: it had 848 international cases on its docket in 2023, up from 755 in 2022. New York was by far the most popular seat in those cases, leading Miami by a considerable margin in both years.
