White & Case and McDermott Will & Emery have become the latest firms to jump on the junior lawyer salary hike bandwagon, both breaking into the upper pay echelons of the London pay scale.

White & Case announced that as of January 1 2025, it would be paying its London newly-qualified lawyers £175,000—on a par with firms such as Goodwin Procter and Sidley Austin. This marks a 16.6% increase from the current rate of £150,000, and pushes them beyond the ranks of the highest-paying U.K.-based firms.
