Amnesty International has expressed concerns over a report from AS&H Clifford Chance that examines the human rights and labour issues related to Saudi Arabia’s bid to host the FIFA World Cup in 2034.

The report by Clifford Chance’s Saudi operation—titled Independent Human Rights Context Analysis—was commissioned by the Saudi Arabian Football Federation and evaluates the potential human rights impacts of hosting the FIFA World Cup 2034 in Saudi Arabia. It outlines how the event will be an opportunity to enhance sports engagement, develop infrastructure, generate employment, and strengthen community ties, but it also recognises possible negative effects on workers, local communities, and fans.
