A small firm of solicitors based in County Wicklow, Ireland, has scored a big win against one of Dublin’s most prestigious law firms in a David vs Goliath-style employment tribunal case brought against Elon Musk’s Twitter.
Gary Rooney, a senior employee at Twitter International’s Dublin headquarters from 2013 to 2022, was awarded €550,000 ($604,000) this week for unfair dismissal by Twitter (since rebranded X). The award was a record for Ireland’s Workplace Relations Commission (WRC), the country’s employment tribunal.
