A panel of legal tech experts in Singapore affirmed that while lawyers remain responsible for the use of Gen AI tools in their practices, more can be done by regulators and vendors to set them up for success. The panel, speaking at TechLaw Fest, included Ken Hwee Tan, chief transformation and innovation officer at the Supreme Court of Singapore, Eric Chin, director at Asia Pacific NewLaw for PwC, James Clough, co-founder and CTO at Robin AI, Jessica Seah, Asia editor at Law.com International, Kenta Kusano, chief executive of LawNet Technology Services and chief technology officer at the Singapore Academy of Law, and Rachel Wong, founder of Founders Doc.

Lawyers’ duties and responsibilities won’t change with AI, as the ultimate responsibility of what is presented to clients or in court lies with them, the panelists said. However, AI vendors also need to provide lawyers with appropriate disclaimers and easy ways to verify the output given by their algorithms.
