Things can only get better? That was the message a year ago after the anaemic growth of the world’s largest law firms—and by and large, the latest figures suggest that they have.

The combined revenue of the highest-grossing 200 law firms in the world climbed to just over $200 billion in 2023, an increase of 6.5%. That uplift might not exactly set everyone’s pulse racing, but is certainly an improvement on the previous year, when overall revenue only inched up by just over 1%.
