A Kenyan court has cleared the way for a $1.6 billion wrongful termination lawsuit brought by more than 180 fired Facebook content moderators, rejecting Meta's appeal.

The parent company of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp challenged the jurisdiction of the lawsuit, arguing that it is incorporated outside of Kenya and doesn't operate in the East African country. But on Friday, an appeal court in Nairobi ruled that Meta's arguments were devoid of merit, dismissing the appeal with no cost to the respondents.
