DLA Piper has announced a new U.K. managing partner

From December 1, Andrew Dyson will take over from Liam Cowell, who has led the U.K. branch since January 2019. Dyson has been at the firm since 2003, and currently holds the positions of office managing partner for Leeds and global co-chair of data, privacy and cybersecurity.

In February, DLA announced new firm, office and practice leaders, and last month it announced a new executive committee.

Dyson said: "I want to thank Liam who has been a fantastic leader for the UK firm and taken the firm from strength to strength, and for his support and guidance as I prepare to enter the role. I look forward to working with Charles and his leadership team as we continue to grow and develop the firm."

Kingsley Napley is also bringing in new leadership. The firm’s board and partnership have elected Matt Mayer as managing partner, effective from April 1, 2025. Previous managing partner Linda Woolley held the position for 18 years.

Meyer himself served as chief executive of Taylor Vinters for 15 years. After Taylor Vinters’ merger with Mischon de Reya in 2021, he joined the firm’s management board.

Meyer commented: “I am honoured that Kingsley Napley has chosen me to lead the next phase of their journey… I am committed to delivering the firm’s strategy, which calls for further growth and continued independence. In addition, it is critical to me that the firm continues to be a great place to work for all its people and preserves the special identity and purpose underpinning the business’s successful commercial operations.”
