The Hague-based International Criminal Court on Thursday issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant over alleged war crimes in Gaza.

The arrest warrants were issued for crimes against humanity and war crimes committed between the start of Israel’s invasion in October of last year until May of this year, according to a court press release. Israel launched its attack the day after Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack. More than 44,000 Palestinians have been killed since then, according to the Gazan Health Ministry.
