A&O Shearman is still in the process of working out the thorny details that followed its merger to create a $3.4 billion law firm with over 3,000 lawyers.

But while it deals with the headache of trimming up to 10% of its global partnership and severing ties with both its office in South Africa and its consulting division, the firm has also come under the spotlight for a different reason.

In the last month alone, the freshly joined-up firm has been the subject of three protests involving three separate climate change groups: Lawyers Are Responsible, Fossil Free London and Extinction Rebellion.
