Burford Capital is expanding its focus to fund construction arbitration in the UAE, targeting high-value disputes as the sector experiences significant growth.

Third-party litigation funders are eyeing opportunities in the UAE construction industry as real estate-related disputes pile up.
A notable arbitration case last year pitted a contractor and subcontractor involved in Dubai's $7 billion Expo 2020 project. Neither the parties nor the claim value were disclosed, however, highlighting one of arbitration’s key advantages in the United Arab Emirates: discretion.

The suit, accusing the defendant of selling knock-off Graco products, was filed Dec. 18 in New Jersey District Court by Rivkin Radler on behalf of Graco Inc. and Graco Minnesota.
