In a year where deal activity shot up, Kirkland & Ellis retained its top spot as the global leader in principal M&A deal value, according to financial data firm Dealogic, outpacing No. 2 Latham & Watkins and No. 3 Skadden, Arps, Meagher, Slate and Flom.

Kirkland saw just over $507 billion in deals as a primary company advisor, spread across 780 deals. According to Dealogic, that gives the firm a 17.3% overall market share.
