French intellectual property boutique Plasseraud IP has hired Simmons & Simmons partner Johan Renes to lead its new office in Amsterdam as it seeks to grow to its international reach.

Renes, who brings three patent attorneys and a senior paralegal, has over 30 years’ experience working with leading pharmaceutical and life science companies, advising on patent litigation, licensing, and strategy, Plasseraud said.

In a LinkedIn message, Renes said the new office figures into the firm’s ambitions to be a full-service IP firm across Europe, offering advice on litigation, IP strategy and commercialization. “Their strength is in the diversity of technical subject matter that they can handle,” said Renes, calling that a “key” reason for his team’s decision to join the firm.
