Lawyers in Mexico are busy preparing clients to mitigate the potential financial blow to their businesses should Donald Trump make good on his threat to slap a 25% tariff on all Mexican exports to the U.S. on day one of his administration.

Mexico is the top exporter to the U.S. and relies on its northern neighbor to absorb nearly $500 billion of goods each year. Motor vehicles and agricultural products such as fresh fruits and vegetables account for much of those exports.
