Germany's highest civil court officially shut its X (formerly Twitter) account this month with a concise statement: "We are closing this channel. You can follow us via our newsletter or Mastodon," the Federal Court of Justice (BGH) post read without elaborating.

The account, with just over 25,000 followers, was neither particularly wide-reaching nor especially daring. The press office primarily used it to share press releases. But the timing of this departure is noteworthy.
