King & Spalding’s merger with Abdulaziz H. Al Fahad & Partners cements its position in Saudi Arabia, leveraging local expertise and a stronger team of 26 lawyers to meet rising client demand while capitalizing on the Kingdom’s economic transformation.

The move is a step forward after King & Spalding secured a foreign law license to operate in Saudi Arabia in 2023 and announced its merger intentions last year. The tie-up adds 18 lawyers to the eight already working in King & Spalding’s Saudi office. It also adds four new partners King & Spalding—disputes resolution partner Abdulaziz H. Al Fahad, corporate finance partners Phil Loynes and Fahad N. Alarfaj, and litigation partner Ibrahim Alkhudair. The lawyers have worked together on various projects since 2007, when King & Spalding first entered Saudi Arabia, but only recently decided to merge in order to leverage opportunities from Saudi Arabia's economic diversification.
