More than half of the respondents to an Australian survey about harassment in the legal profession said they had experienced sexual harassment, discrimination or bullying at work in the past three years.

The resulting report, Review of Harassment in the South Australian Legal Profession, recommended that lawyers have conditions placed on their licences to practice if they pose “a serious risk to others, or is necessary to protect public health and safety”.

The 2024 survey of legal practitioners found that more than one in two said they had experienced sexual harassment, discrimination or bullying at work in the past three years.The same number said they had witnessed these behaviours.
