Environmental campaigners have defeated oil and gas giants after a Scottish court ruled that the original consent for two large energy projects off the coast of Scotland was granted unlawfully.

At the court of session in Edinburgh last Thursday, Judge Ericht sided with climate activists—namely Greenpeace and campaign group Uplift—over the Norwegian state-owned energy company Equinor, represented by CMS, and the U.K.-headquartered Ithaca, which Pinsent Masons is acting for, according to a court filing.
