The Berlin Regional Court has ordered X to provide unrestricted access to key data to two non-profit organisations so they can investigate possible election interference ahead of the February 23 vote.
Democracy Reporting International (DRI) and The Society for Civil Rights (GFF) sued the social media platform weeks before a federal election that pits former Mayer Brown corporate lawyer Friedrich Merz against Olaf Scholz, Germany’s current chancellor, and far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) candidate Alice Weidel, among others. X owner Elon Musk praised Weidel during a controversial live talk on the social media platform in January, fueling accusations of meddling in Germany's upcoming election.
