Debevoise & Plimpton has hired a corporate partner in Hong Kong.

William Chua joins from Sullivan & Cromwell where he was a partner. Chua is dual-qualified in Hong Kong and New York, and specializes in China-related capital markets deals and mergers and acquisitions. Last year, he represented six underwriters including Goldman Sachs & Co., J.P. Morgan Securities and Citigroup Global Markets Inc. on the $25 billion New York Stock Exchange listing of Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. He then advised the same group of underwriters on Alibaba’s $8 billion corporate bond issue in later 2014. Also in 2014, he acted for tycoon Li Ka-shing’ utility company Power Assets Holdings Ltd. on its $3.6 billion initial public offering in Hong Kong.
