White & Case and Simpson Thacher & Bartlett topped the list of law firms in mergers and acquisitions deal volume in the Asia Pacific region during the first six months of 2016, according to league tables published by Mergermarket and Bloomberg, whose results often vary based on different methodologies.

White & Case, which has topped both organizations’ global M&A league tables by deal volume, ranked first on Mergermarket’s Asia Pacific top 15, with $66.3 billion worth of deals, and second on Bloomberg’s ranking in the same region with $70.7 billion worth of deals. Japan is not included in the overall ranking, but in Japan, the firm was also the highest ranked non-Japanese firm by both organizations when measured by deal volume.
