Many years ago, somebody taught me to juggle. Not well, but it was fun. All I remember of this was that the lesson started by deliberately dropping the ball. It’s nothing to be afraid of. The teaching was that by attempting something and being prepared to fail, we can learn and adapt. The British economist Tim Harford argues that most forecasts are wrong and therefore most projects have to adapt. This being so, he says that we should anticipate failure and incorporate it into our project planning.
