It’s comical to hear sports commentators talk about how “analytics” is a new, youth-inspired movement. The business world has been analyzing data for a very long time. It should come as no surprise then that those bringing analytics to the sports world are the business school graduates who are working their way up into the C Suite of sports franchises and bringing analytics with them.
