Slaughters and Linklaters have taken the lead roles on Wood Group's £2.2bn acquisition of Amec Foster Wheeler.

Energy services company Wood Group, which is headquartered in Aberdeen, will own around 56% of the combined group following completion of the deal. Amec Foster Wheeler is a British consultancy, engineering and project management company headquartered in London.

The deal is expected to close in the second half of 2017.

Slaughters is acting for Wood Group with a team comprising City corporate partners Simon Nicholls, Paul Dickson and Chris McGaffin, competition and regulatory partners Bertrand Louveaux and Lisa Wright, share schemes and incentives partner Jonathan Fenn, pensions partner Sandeep Maudgil, tax partner Michael Lane and finance partner Matthew Tobin.

Linklaters, meanwhile, is representing Amec Foster Wheeler. The firm's team is being led by global corporate head Aedamar Comiskey, alongside London corporate partner James Inglis.

Other major roles Slaughters has taken for Wood Group in recent years include advising on the $2.8bn sale of its well support division to General Electric (GE) in 2011. Baker Botts advised Wood Group in the US, with Slaughters handling UK aspects of the deal opposite Allen & Overy for GE.

Baker Botts also advised Wood Group in 2013 on its joint venture with Siemens to create a $1bn oil and gas rotating equipment business. Eversheds and future US merger partner Sutherland Asbill & Brennan advised Siemens on UK and US law respectively.
