Eversheds Sutherland has bolstered its employment practice with the hire of partner Sophie White (pictured) from City employment firm Abbiss Cadres. She joined the HR-focused outfit in 2014, having previously been a senior associate at CMS. White's practice covers several sectors including healthcare, technology, media and telecommunications.

The firm has also hired corporate tax partner Paul Beausang from US firm Morgan Lewis & Bockius's London office. Beausang joined Morgan Lewis in 2015 and specialises in real estate tax structuring and transactional matters. He joins Eversheds Sutherland's City base as head of real estate tax.

Morgan Lewis & Bockius has boosted its London office with the hire of finance partner Paul Denham from Dorsey & Whitney. Denham advises banks, credit funds, borrowers and sponsors on a wide range of financing and restructuring transactions, with a particular focus on leveraged and acquisition financings. He joined Dorsey & Whitney as a partner in 2016.

Hogan Lovells has appointed continental Europe managing partner Burkhart Goebel as global head of intellectual property (IP). He replaces Andreas von Falck, who has headed the practice since 2003. Falck will remain at at the firm in a fee-earning position while the firm is yet to announce Goebel's replacement for continental Europe head. 

RPC has hired London technology partner Paul Joukador from Hogan Lovells. Joukador departs after more than 16 years at the firm. He has joined RPC's intellectual property, technology and media group. Joukador's arrival takes the firm's total number of partners in the group to 10.

Maples Teesdale has hired Irwin Mitchell London head of real estate finance Rohan Campbell.  It is the first lateral hire for the real estate-focused firm since last year. Campbell joined Irwin Mitchell as an associate in 2013 and was made up to partner three years later. His practice includes advising clients with investment and development financing, refinancing and loan restructuring.

Reed Smith has boosted its London real estate practice with the hire of legal director Nick Harris from Mishcon de Reya. Harris, who joins the US firm's London base as a partner, has a particular focus on complex development work and high-value investment sales and acquisitions within commercial real estate. Clients he has worked with previously include Berkeley Homes, Commercial Estates Group and TK Maxx.

TLT has hired commercial litigation partner Jon Hainey from DWF in Manchester. Hainey had been a partner at DWF since 2013, after joining from Cobbetts where he was head of the firm's Manchester commercial litigation group. He specialises in procurement and public law challenges and previously served as president of the Manchester Law Society.

Ince & Co has appointed maritime specialist David Galea as a partner in its Dubai office. Galea joins after four years as head of legal and company secretary of Drydocks World; before that, he was a senior associate with Maltese firm Ganado Advocates. Galea has a focus on shipping, energy, corporate, employment and general commercial sectors.

Womble Bond Dickinson has recruited Mishcon de Reya head of competition Andrij Jurkiw. Jurkiw specialises in UK and EU competition law and advises across the food, building materials, chemical, recruitment, pharmaceutical, real estate, technology and transport sectors. He also acts on mergers and the application of state aid. Prior to joining Mishcon, Jurkiw was an associate and then a partner at what is now Pinsent Masons, then partner, at Burges Salmon.

Weightmans has bolstered its public sector practice with the hire of Henry Bermingham as a partner from BLM. Bermingham was head of BLM's local government team, having been a partner with the firm for 15 years. He acts for public sector bodies on social care claims, highways, human rights, occupiers' liability, employers' liability, stress, public rights of way and "power and duty" cases. He was president of the Forum of Insurance Lawyers in 2008.

DWF has hired Greenberg Traurig real estate partner Andrew Edwards to its London real estate sector team. Edwards acts on investment, asset management and development, advising clients in the private sector and ultra-high-net-worth individuals. He has previously acted for the Cathedral Group on an £800m redevelopment and Highbridge Properties on a £450m data centre project. At DWF, he will also work with the firm's business finance team to negotiate debt facilities for clients.
