Paul Hastings has continued its City lateral hiring spree with the addition of Baker Mckenzie financial services and regulatory partner Arun Srivastava.

Srivastava will join the US firm's London office as head of its City regulatory and fintech and payments practice.

He departs after more than 20 years at Bakers, where he has been head of the London financial services regulatory group since 2010. He advises clients on regulatory requirements across Europe.

Paul Hastings chair Seth Zachary said:  "Arun is one of the leading financial regulatory lawyers in London and will enhance our capabilities across our finance, fintech and payments, funds and transactional practices. It is central to our growth strategy in London that we attract the finest lawyers in their specialisms, and Arun's practice and pedigree in the regulatory space will be extremely helpful for us."

Srivastava is the US firm's third lateral partner recruit for its London office in recent weeks, and the firm plans to make more hires throughout 2018.

In May, the firm recruited Linklaters corporate heavyweight Roger Barron and DLA Piper private equity partner Anu Balasubramanian.

Srivastava's arrival follows the exit of Paul Hastings London banking partner Ben Regnard-Weinrabe earlier this year.

Payments specialist Regnard-Weinrabe, who specialises in innovation in financial services, including mobile payments, e-money and virtual currencies, left to join Allen & Overy.

A Bakers spokesperson said: "We wish Arun well with the next phase of his career."

Bakers dispute resolution partner Jonathan Peddie and financial services partner Mark Simpson will co-lead the London financial services regulatory practice.
