CMS is advising the Battersea Power Station Development Company (BPSDC) on the pre-let of the remaining 40,000 sq ft available within the power station to a private members club.

The new occupier, No 18, is a part of the global serviced workplace giant IWG – formerly known as Regus – which turned to Shoosmiths for advice.

The deal rounds off a series of pre-lets at the power station, which saw tech giant Apple sign up to about half – 500,000 sq ft – of the space available in 2016.

In 2012, redevelopment works at the landmark power station started soon after its sale to Malaysian conglomerates SP Setia and Sime Darby, with the intention of repurposing the one million sq ft property to house offices, as well as shops and private residences.

No 18 will be based in the station's 'engine room', and situated across two floors overlooking two turbine halls that will feature about 100 shops and restaurants.

Real estate partner Caroline Maude led a CMS team comprising associates Sarah Cooke, Lauren Alder and Jolyon Bond.

Shoosmiths, meanwhile, fielded a team led by real estate partner Andrew Farmery – who this month left for Blake Morgan – and senior associate Simon Shoefield, who also left the national firm this month to join Coffin Mew as a partner.

King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) and legacy Berwin Leighton Paisner advised Apple back in 2016 when it decided to relocate its London headquarters to the south London power station, with KWM real estate partners William Boss and Simon Tager leading the way.
