Mishcon de Reya has added a brand management arm to advise companies on reputation, launches and strategy matters.

MDR Brand Management will be rolled out to clients in 10 locations worldwide including London, Los Angeles, New York and Tokyo, and be overseen by Daniel Avener, former senior vice-president of Global Brands at advisory business CAA/GBG.

MDR Brand Management is Mishcon's fourth consultancy business following the launches of digital consultancy business MDR Cyber, eDiscovery platform MDR Discover and private client business Mayfair Private.

Mishcon managing partner Kevin Gold said: "Each of the services offered by The Mishcon de Reya Group has a strong connection to the business of law and is complementary to our core areas of work. Through MDR Brand Management, we will provide a unique service to our clients that redefines the brand management offering – a first for both the legal sector and the world of brands."

At Global Brands, Avener worked with companies including Coca-Cola, David Beckham, Skechers, Mercedes-Benz, The Hershey Company and Kodak.

The top 50 firm's latest foray is part of a growing trend for firms to offer alternative services to clients. Earlier this month, CMS launched a team aimed at joining up and advancing the firm's legal services and technology offerings and shaping the delivery of the firm's four client services.
