ITV has appointed EasyJet general counsel Kyla Mullins to be its new group GC and company secretary, with Clifford Chance corporate partner Daud Khan flying in to act as interim GC at the airline company.

Mullins leaves her role at EasyJet after nearly four years at the airline, and replaces Andrew Garard as ITV GC after he announced he was stepping down from his role earlier this year. She will join the company in January 2019.

Mullins has worked for ITV previously, as group legal director between 2000 and 2007. She then went on to be GC for EMI Music for three years, then at Mitie for one year, before joining EasyJet in 2014.

ITV's chief executive Carolyn McCall said: "Kyla brings great commercial and strategic experience and acumen, as well as a proven track record in the media and entertainment sectors. I am sure she will be a great addition to the management board and a fantastic leader for her team."

Khan joined CC 13 years ago, making partner in May this year. His focus is on cross-border M&A, investments, private equity, joint ventures and corporate restructuring.

Gerard's departure was reported by Legal Week in July this year. He has been crucial to the legal development of ITV, pushing forward an agenda for diversity and wider corporate social responsibility offerings during his time at the company.

This included taking a lead role with director of legal affairs Barry Matthews on the launch of the Legal Social Mobility Partnership, a joint in-house and private practice work placement scheme.
