Simpson Thacher & Bartlett has promoted 11 of its lawyers to partner around the world, with real estate associate Samuel Charlton making the grade in London.

Charlton, whose practice focuses on private equity real estate acquisitions, dispositions and joint ventures for international fund sponsors, will become a partner in the US firm's City office from 1 January 2019.

Last year, Simpson Thacher made up three partners in London as part of a nine-strong round.

Meanwhile, six lawyers are being made up in New York, two in Houston, one in Palo Alto and one in Hong Kong, the bulk of who specialise in private equity.

The Hong Kong lawyer being made up is Asia banking and credit head Makiko Harunari, while in New York, public company advisory head Bradley Goldberg is also being promoted.

Elsewhere, fellow US firm Baker Botts has also made up one partner in London – the firm's first City partner promotion for five years – in a 12-strong global round.

Dorine Farah, a special counsel in Baker Bott's City litigation practice, will become a partner from 1 January next year.

The news comes after Cravath Swaine & Moore announced a three-strong all-female partner promotion round earlier this month, while Latham & Watkins made up nine City lawyers.
