Herbert Smith Freehills has hired workplace health and safety partner Aaron Anderson from Norton Rose Fulbright.

Anderson, who works in Brisbane, Australia, focuses on workplace health and safety law, industrial relations and regulatory as well as compliance matters in the construction, resources, energy, retail, tourism, life sciences and transport industries.

He joins Herbert Smith Freehills after 12 and a half years at Norton Rose Fulbright, having first joined legacy Deacons Australia in 2006 as special counsel. He made partner in 2009. Previously, he worked at Australian firm Clayton Utz for eight years.

Miles Bastick, who heads Herbert Smith Freehills' Australia employment, pensions and incentives practice from Sydney, said the firm continues to invest in workplace health and safety expertise. The firm currently has 11 workplace health and safety partners globally, according to its website – three in Brisbane, two in Melbourne and one each in Sydney and Perth.
