Herbert Smith Freehills has missed its target of achieving a 30 percent female partnership by 2019, following the firm's latest 22-strong promotion round.

The latest promotion round has promoted 22 to partner, eight of which are women. As of May 1 2019, HSF will have 478 partners in total, of which 26 percent will be female.

This is the second time HSF has missed its target, having fallen short of its initial target of 25 percent in 2017. However, the firm has achieved a significant increase in its female partnership numbers since the firm set the targets back in 2014, when it had a 17.5 percent female partnership.

A spokesperson for the firm said: "The growth we have achieved, we are very proud of. We position our targets in order to disrupt the status quo, and even if we don't meet our target, our commitment to getting more women in the partnership remains totally unaltered."

The latest 22-strong promotion round spans 13 offices, including four London promotions. Promoting six new partners in EMEA, this is the largest number of promotions the firm has made across this network for six years.
