CMS has made up 16 women to partner in the U.K. as part of its largest-ever global promotion round.

The 16 form the majority of the 21-lawyer group in the U.K., amid a 49-strong global round – its largest ever.

New London-based partners include real estate lawyer Lindsey Barrett, pensions lawyer Johanna Clarke, employment lawyer Anna Cope, intellectual property lawyer Caitlin Heard and real estate finance partner Josie Hearnden.

The global promotions span 23 cities across Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East.

In the U.K, the 21 promotions are spread across the firm's seven offices – London, Bristol, Sheffield, Manchester, Reading, Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

It marks the first time partners have been made up in Sheffield, Manchester and Reading – which the firm gained in its three-way merger two years ago.

Last year, CMS made up 11 partners in the U.K., all in its London office.
